Deloitte Consulting (France) were implementing a system to help Renault France's showroom staff sell cars.
The system was a web-based intranet application which would calculate the price payable for any car in the range with a fully customised range of options.
Unfortunately, the system was taking 35 seconds to perform the calculation. All parties felt that this was far too long.
